Severe    Weather    Project
Introduction:
The National Weather Service needs your help!  Due to the large number of recent storms and the deaths and destruction associated with them, the National Weather Service would like to create a series of Google Slide Presentations to teach second grade students.  The purpose of your presentation is to inform second grade students about the dangers of these amazing forces of nature, and what to do to be as safe as possible.  A selection of fifth grade students will be chosen by your teacher to go to a second grade classroom and present their project.
The Task:
Each of you will need to use the given resources to research your assigned severe weather.  Once you gather all the required information, you will prepare a Google Slide Presentation about your type of severe weather.  You must become an expert in your type of weather phenomenon.  You will then present your work to the judge (your wonderful teacher). Your teacher will then select one student from each of the four weather phenomenons go to to a second grade classroom and present to them.

Severe Weather Preparedness

Google Slides Tutorial
The Process:
All of you will read the text selections above in your Google Classroom. Use Kami to annotate them to show your understanding, then save them back into your Google Classroom assignment page. Then each of you will focus on your type of severe weather as assigned by your teacher. Each of you will use the links in the resources section below to:
  1. Give a description of your severe weather type.
  2. Explain what causes your type of severe weather and how it forms.
  3. Describe the places where these severe weather occur most often and where they are the most dangerous.
  4. List the time of year when this severe weather occurs most often.
  5. Explain the scale used to determine intensity of your severe weather.
  6. Provide information as to what to do to be safe before, during, and after your weather phenomenon.
  7. Provide Citation of no less than three sources you used to complete this assignment.
Then, you will decide what format you will use to include your presentation. You will use Google Slide to create the final product. Once the Slides are completed, you may select two students from your class to help evaluate your presentation before final submission. Upon completion of peer evaluation process, you will then be allowed to present your slide to the class to be judged (by your teacher for a grade).
